2015 August Expenses Review

CutSpending

August was not a good month for passive income. Lets take a look at how I did in terms of expenses.

Monthly Expenses By Category August
Fix Expenses
Mortgage* 829
HOA / Property Tax 910
Insurance (HO/Car) 147
Utility (Electricity, Phone, DSL) 136
2nd cellphone – to be cancelled) 37
Total Fix Expenses 2,059
Variable Expenses
Gasoline 80
Grocery 220
Dining Out 118
Clothing/Personal Care 47
Household 0
Entertainment/Leisure 8
Medical/Health 10
Misc 3
Total Variable Expenses 483
Total Monthly Expenses 2,542

I did well in terms of controlling my expenses in August. It was so hot this month that I spent most of my time indoors at Starbucks or local coffee shops reading my books or catching up on work. Not only that I ate out less but also drove less in August. The only area that suffered was my electricity bill and it went up quite a bit due to AC usage.

Not included in this table is an extra monthly payment of $300 to mortgage* principal and a $150 monthly expense for half of a rental property.

August Passive Income = $ 321

August Expenses = $ 2,542

Shortage = $ 2,221

My August passive income covers 13% of my monthly expenses.

Cheers,

Lady Butterfly
