2017 Goals

Short Term Financial Goals for 2017

1. Increase total passive income to at least $600 average per month or $7,200 per year (Include dividends, interests, and rental property)

2. Max out 401k and ESPP

3. Invest at least 20K new money in taxable accounts (Stocks and bonds)

4. Limit monthly spending within [Monthly income(earn + passive) – 2K investments in taxable accounts]

Personal Goals

1. No Electronics 1 night a week (Just quiet time to read/reflect)

2. Walk 10K steps or run 1 mile 3x a week

3. Read a book every other month


 

Short Term Financial Goals for 2016 ( I am keeping 4 out of 5 goals from 2015)

1. Increase total passive income to at least $450 average per month or $5,400 per year (Include dividends, interests, and rental property) -> Grade B

2. Max out 401k and ESPP – Grade A-

3. Invest at least 24K new money in taxable accounts (Stocks and bonds) – Grade B+

4. Limit monthly spending within [Monthly income(earn + passive) – 2K investments in taxable accounts] – Grade A

Personal Goals

1. Turn electronics off by 12:30am (1 cheat night per week) – Grade D

2. Walk 10K steps 3x a week or gym for 30 mins a week – Grade A-

3. Read a non-fiction book every other month  – Grade A

 


 

Short Term Financial Goals for 2015

1. Increase total passive income to at least $300 average per month or $3,600 per year (Include dividends, interests, and rental property) -> Grade A

2. Max out 401k and ESPP -> Grade A-

3. Invest at least 24K new money in taxable accounts (Stocks and bonds) -> Grade A

4. Pay down mortgage principal by at least 10K -> Grade A

5. Limit monthly spending within [Monthly income(earn + passive) – 2K investments in taxable accounts] -> Grade A

Personal Goals

1. Volunteer once a month -> Grade B

2. Run a race every quarter and exercise twice a week -> Grade D

3. Read a non-fiction book every other month (a book every month) -> Grade B

 


 

Short Term Financial Goals for 2014

1. Increase total passive income to at least $100 per month or $1,200 per year (Include dividends, interests, and rental property loss) -> Grade A

2. Max out 401k and ESPP -> Grade A+

3. Invest at least 12K new money in taxable accounts -> Grade A+

4. Pay down principal on mortgage by at least 10K -> Grade A

5. Limit monthly expenses to one take home paycheck -> Grade C

6. Limit monthly luxury* spending to monthy passive income -> Grade B

*Luxury – Clothes, eating out, and leisure activities. Any spending beyond the basic necessities is consider luxury.

Learning Goals

1. Learn how to use wordpress -> Grade D

2. Learn how to be a better writer/blogger -> Grade D

3. Learn more about all the different investment vehicles -> Grade A-
